They
Who worshipped
Discovered myth
In their belief
And rejected their religion
I was stranded
In my temple.

They
Who taught
Dignity and respect
Began lusting
For nakedness.
I was asked
To strip,
I did.

They
Who considered
Hate to be a taboo
Learned to hate.
In their eyes
I diminished, into point blank.

They
Who loved
Began to not love.
Things changed,
Fast enough
before my eyes.

The sun shines too bright
On my latent dreams
The day doesn’t pass
And the night doesn’t come
I wish, sometimes
I could throw stones at the Sun
And splinter it
like it worked with the streetlights.
It doesn’t work that way, does it?

For a while now
Clouds have taken over
They don’t rain
Just stay
Between me and my sky
I want my stars back
my lights, scattered
over a dark dreamy night.
Every night
I close my eyes
dreaming of lights
Twinkling, dazzling, glittering.
Every night instead,
Lightning strikes,
And I wake up
shattered within my nest.
